Woodwose

Woodwoses support coats of arms in the side panels of a portrait by Albrecht Dürer, 1499 (Alte Pinakothek, Munich)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Woodwose (Anglo-Saxon: wuduwasa) or hairy wildman of the woods was the Sasquatch figure of medieval Europe. Images of woodwoses appear in the carved and painted roof bosses where intersecting ogee vaults meet in the cathedral of Canterbury, in positions where one is also likely to encounter the vegetal Green Man. The woodwose, pilosus or "hairy all over", and often armed with a club, was a link between civilized humans and the dangerous elf-like spirits of natural woodland, such as Puck. The image of the wild man survived to appear as supporter for heraldic coats-of-arms, especially in Germany, well into the 16th century. Early engravers in Germany and Italy were especially fond of wild men, wild women, and wild families, with examples from Martin Schongauer, Albrecht Dürer, and Giovanni Battista Palumba, among others.

and attacks from the flanks or rear.

opponent (+1 check modifier) as a free action without making a touch attack
or provoking an attack of opportunity. If the attempt fails, the opponent cannot
react to trip the wolf.
Skills *Wolves have a +4 racial bonus on Survival checks when tracking
by scent.

Yale

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The yale (also "centicore", Latin "eale") is a mythical beast found in European mythology. Most descriptions make it an antelope- or goat-like four-legged creature with large horns that it can swivel in any direction.
The name might be derived from Hebrew "yael", meaning "mountain goat".
The yale was first written about by Pliny the Elder in his Natural History. The creature passed into medieval bestiaries and heraldry, where it represents proud defense. It was used by the British Royal Family as a supporter for the arms of John, Duke of Bedford, and by England's Beaufort family. Margaret Beaufort's yale supporters can be seen over the gateways of Cambridge's Christ's College and St. John's College. There are also yales on the roof of St George's Chapel in Windsor Castle.
In modern times, the yale as a heraldic symbol is weakly associated with Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut. Neither the University's coat of arms nor most of its other heraldry features the yale, and the school's primary sports mascot is a bulldog named Handsome Dan. But a yale is depicted on the official banner of the President of the University, which is carried and displayed during commencement exercises each spring, and yales can be seen above the gateway to Yale's Davenport College.

This creature looks like a elk, but sports a boarlike head with four-foot-long ivory horns growing from above its brow. Other than its brown head, the rest of its hide is dull black.
Yale are herbivores that graze in small herds. Their flesh is considered a delicacy among elves, who consider it a rite of passage to defeat a yale with only a longsword, pitting sword against horns.
A yale is around 8 feet long, stands 5 feet at the shoulder, and weighs 550-650 pounds
COMBAT
A yale will aggressively defend itself if threatened.
Pivoting Gore (Ex): The yale is able to pivot its head to bring its horns to bear against multiple opponents. As a full attack action, it can strike a single opponent with both horns or two adjacent opponents with a single horn. Either way, make a single attack roll. If a single opponent is hit, it takes damage from both horns. If a critical hit is threatened, only one confirmation roll is made.
